Taiwan will raise prices of the screws sold in local market by around 8 percent due to the increasing price of wire but sales volume does not show growth. Market analyst noted that, “Taiwan fastener market is likely to be pessimistic because no big public building projects will start and the government continues to control the housing market.” The current price of low carbon screw is NTD40/kg, NTD47/kg for medium carbon screws, NTD55-57/kg for high carbon screws, NTD56-57 for TC Bolts, and NTD42/kg for shear nails.
February Fastener Exports Drop
Taiwan fastener export volume in February showed a decrease to be less than 90,000 tons, the lowest record since last year due to the shorter working days for that month. However, it was 10 percent higher over the same period of last year. The average price of screws is USD2.638/kg, down 1.37 percent from January, keeping low for 4 months since October of 2009.
However, experts of the industry predicted that export of Taiwan would return to the level of 100,000 tons in March.
So far, the selling price for exported automotive fasteners is about USD2.37/kg while the price of small screws is USD1.4/kg due to the reduction of orders.
